Snow dome and snow globe collecting
has a huge category range, time frame and international scope.
So a great collection should embody that and most importantly, should include relevant examples
across that full range.
For me the collection shown here is an Internationally diverse,
mostly complete and intelligently selected, accumulation.
Many rare pieces are
inlcuded that span across most decades that they were issued.
It features all prominent or important categories of Souvenirs,
Advertising, Figurals, Character, Holiday, Sports and Religion.
Included here are many old and important pieces to represent the evolution of both
snow globes from the very early examples like The1889 Paris Exposition to the present.
There is also much information of how they were made and issued and for what purposes.
This is an international hobby and any collection should represent examples from many
countries through the ages, which also places you to specific sites and illuminates their country's cultures and history.
Snow globes evolved from glass to plastic then glass again. Both glass and plastic are still issued.
Lastly, any prominent collector should be disseminating information to other collectors to
enhance their experience and further the continuation of the hobby.
Yes, many other collections cover specific categories such as Disney or just places visited.
These are all valid, of course but a great collection should be more and I hope this is and I am there.
